Hi all,

I've got Sims 2 Ultimate Collection on Windows 10, my PC is fairly new which I think is the problem (it ran fine on my previous 2-year old Windows 10 Laptop).

The game crashes within minutes and there doesn't seem to be a pattern as to where it happens but I haven't managed to play more than 3-5mins so far, it has crashed in CAS, adding downtown/universities and in loading a neighborhood. Sometimes I get the error "the application has crashed the application will now terminate" other times there is no error and it just crashes to the desktop.

I have been searching around the forums and have tried a couple of fixes - running in compatibility mode and as an administrator, have tried clearing the origin cache and groups cache. I've tried re-installing and repairing the game. I have just tried the texture fix and the video card fixes but no luck, crashed when loading the neighborhood.

I have no mods. Today I reinstalled the game completely vanilla - I've attached my config-log.

Hi,

Recently I added some CC and a few mods to my collection and now when I try to play the game, I get half way to loading a family and it crashes. It is the same in CAS. Before you ask, I have tried removing the CC and Mods and it didn't make any difference. I've tried using the Compatibility Launcher, Changing the Version of Windows etc etc. Do you think that there is a chance one of you could please help me? (I am on Windows 10 Version 1709)

Graphics flashing every time I move the camera

I did everything said in that locked thread. Smooth edges was still greyed out. And the glitching/flashing still exists. I have windows 7 and Nvidia GeforceGTX 760 Ti. I put the graphics rules in mansion and garden stuff.

Should I put them in University Life (the bundle pack) since that's technically newer?

I also moved my downloads folder to the desktop and deleted cache files. But no luck.

If I move the camera the slightest bit, there will be a corner where furniture/wall/etc flash for a split second. It also does this in neighborhood view. It happens so fast that I can't take a picture of it.

This literally just started happening after I downloaded some lots and after I updated my driver. But then I get rid of downloads and rollback the driver and it's still happening. I don't know what to do.

Hi guys,

I hope someone here is able to help me. I'm having issues getting Sims 2 UC to work on my new gaming laptop with either the integrated Intel or dedicated graphics card Nvidia GTX 1060. I've read through x threads here and on other websites and tried different things for a week now. I'll try to explain and what I have tried so far below.

Full screen:
Game does not start. I get the "Failed to find any DirectX 9 compatible graphics adapters in this system!" error message with both Intel and Nvidia card.

Windowed mode (adding -w in target field):
- Intel card - Sims 2 starts but is stuck in low resolution (320x300). (See attachment lowresIntel.gif)
- Nvidia - White screen, sims 2 cursor and sound (See winmode_nvidia.gif).

What I've tried:
- Always start as administrator
- Replaced the Sims2EP9.exe file with the noCD version
- Tried graphic rule maker
- Added intel and nividia cards in Video cards.sgr file manually - tried both "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060" and "GeForce GTX 1060"
- Added 1920x1080 in the graphics rule file
- Installed DirectX 9
- Clean installation (with DDU) of nvidia drivers (new and oldest I could go - 385.28)
- Start in and in no compatibility modes
- Deleted/renamed the sims 2 folder in documents/ea games several times

Hello everyone.

Forgive me if this is not the correct place, but after digging through the internet and connecting with other simmers, I've finally found a fix to the cursed crash issue with Windows 10 and its horrible operating system. As we all knew, hundreds of people around the world have been experiencing the issue and as we hoped it was only a matter of time before we found the fix. A thread over at the Sims official site sparked some conversation with me and a few others. Anyway, this is what we did:

Memory Leak Fix
Again, thank you so much to the friends over at The Sims Forum! Check this video out for Windows 10 memory fix. I did it once and have never crashed since. I've tried EVERYTHING and nothing would work... including all of the pages on this site. Anyway, watch the video and follow the instructions.

Set Groups and Accessories cache to Read Only
Some of you may have heard of this (this site has directions on it), but it certainly makes the game faster/has stopped me from having to continually delete my cache/reduced stress on the game which leads to crashing in the first place.
1. Download the Accessories cache from here
Download the Groups cache from here
2. Place them both inside of your The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection folder after deleting the ones already there.
3. Right click on them the Accessories cache.
4. Go to Properties.
5. Scroll down to Attributes.
6. Check Read Only.

Please give me feedback and let me know what worked/didn't work for you!

Bonus you might try
Try Razer Cortex: Game Booster. It optimizes use computer so that most of its focus is pointed toward the game play. I have thousands of files of CC and it has reduced loading screens and my game runs beautifully. I always open the game through this application because Windows 10 is a fraudulent and sneaky evil operating system which runs COUNTLESS applications in the back of your computer and unlike Windows 7 is very good at concealing them, even when you think you've found and removed them all. Most of the systems running in secrecy are meant to record your internet access usage and report data to a data collecting agency (for more information do your research; they aren't shy about this. I hate Windows 10 but I am stuck with it. Microsoft is full of creeps and criminals. )

ANYWAY

1. Open the application.
2. Go to Game Booster at the top.
3. In the center option is Boost. Go ahead and click the green box.
4. Once its done, go to Games option at the top and add the Sims 2 Ultimate Collection and or Body Shop if you want (makes it appear MUCH faster.)
5. Play the Sims 2 Ultimate Collection through the booster.
6. Have fun.

So I just got a new computer and it's way better than the old laptop, but I've seen many graphical problems in the sims 2. I installed all my discs and took my old sims folder and replaced the new one with the old one. I had all my old building, families and mods, but the grass/desert is really weird. They dont have any shadows and they dont go dark at night. And I have this flickering everywhere, when I build and when I'm in the neighbourhood. Dont judge but I mainly just build in sims and it kinda bothers me. I dont have the pets expansion pack so I cant find any fix for this. I have all my settings on the max btw. Please help

Hello, i am current using windows 10 and i downloaded graphic rules maker onto my computer. I looked around online on how to flick screen glithes and i used the support Vsync on Intel and now my game wont run, any idea on how to help me? I cant seem to figure out how to make it work again.

Sims 2 Crashing
I am trying to run The Sims 2 UC on my Windows 10 PC, but it crashes so often. It has crashed anywhere from neighborhood select to CAS. I have tried to reinstall, change the graphicrules.sgr, and compatibility mode. Is there anything else I could try?

PC Specs:
GTX 1080
I7 82xx?
32GB RAM
